About Us

Joe Burdick, President of Burdick Technologies Unlimited, LLC, founded B.T.U. in Lakewood, Colorado in 1996.  Joe says: "I used to be a scientist, now i am a roofer!"  He has been working in the photovoltaics industry as a research scientist and now a designer / installer for over 30 years.  

His early work involved Uni-Solar a-Si PV roofing (shingles and laminates for metal roofs), and later at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado.  Then, in 1996, Joe hung out his own shingle and founded B.T.U. in Lakewood, Colorado, and has been designing and installing PV systems throughout the Rocky Mountain region ever since.  In 2017, he published a DIY book, "Install Your Own Solar Panels" through Storey Publishing, with upcoming additional editions anticipated in the near future.
